Oakview Visit

The Church was delighted to have had the Students of the Oakview Preparatory School worshiping with us. The School's visit expressed their thanks to the Church for its continuous support  and its endeavors. During the school's visit , the students showcased what they have learned through musical presentations, words of gratitude and shared some of their goals for the remainder of the school semester. The Students were encouraged and motivated by the Children's Ministries Director of the Greater New York Conference who gave them the charge to go out and be a light to those around them.

"Mastering Your Mind"

The Youth Department would like to thank those who came out both in person and online to support the three day "Mastering Your Mind" Seminar. The program facilitated by Dr. Warner Richards allowed attendees to take a deeper look into their minds. Through this seminar Dr. Warner gave insightful information on how we can understand the Emotional Mind(seat of our emotions), Mastering Your Mind to create our Future and how we can Win the Fight Against Anxiety.

Let us remember: Mind Controls the Whole Man "The mind controls the whole man. All our actions, good or bad, have their source in the mind. It is the mind that worships God and allies us to heavenly beings.... All the physical organs are the servants of the mind, and the nerves are the messengers that transmit its orders to every part of the body, guiding the motions of the living machinery". Ellen White, (Mind, Character and Personality Vol. 2)

"Ready to Answer" Debate

The Debate took place on May 21st at the Patchogue Seventh Day Adventist Church.  The debate was a collaborative effort between the Yonkers Seventh Day Adventist Church, Patchogue Seventh Day Adventist Church and several other congregations. The Youth  trained  and had done an extensive amount of research leading up to the day of the debate. The youth were placed into  two categories: a junior team and senior team, where they were to defend doctrinal topics.

The breakdown of the teams were as follows ; The junior team (ages 10-14) argued in favor of the statement "The Sabbath is observed on the seventh day." The senior team (ages 15-19) argued the affirmative for the statement, "God created the earth in 6 days". Both teams were faced with a series of questions against the topic to test how well they can defend what they believe.Through the debate, it was clear that the youth are prepared and equipped to give an answer to whatever the world throws their way.

We would like to thank Toluwani Alao who represented Yonkers church as part of the senior youth team.
